WELCOME

I have always worked on a small team with a big mission. Apparently scrappy, do-good organizations just run in my veins; I feel at home there. I love the energy and dedication that flows from small teams. Yet I know firsthand the reality of backlogged growth due to organizational capacity--what was once an exciting pursuit has now become a heavy burden.

This is exactly where I like to start: with dedicated, smart, passionate teams who simply need to re-allocate tasks and resources so that they can continue to do what they love.

My lifelong passion for writing and storytelling led me to study communications (and theology, but that's less relevant here) in undergraduate. When I finished my B.A., I did the very logical thing for a liberal arts, double-major to do and that's go get a job at a local nonprofit. I discovered I loved the breadth and challenge that came from working on a tight-knit, mission-driven team. After several years in nonprofit communications and development (because I know that it's like to have both of those titles at once!), I transitioned into freelance contracting and consulting work here in late 2018.

My greatest strengths are in content creation, writing, and strategy, but I run the gamut of actual subject matter these days (perhaps the liberal arts degree came in handy after all?).
Right now I call Vancouver, BC home, though I have lived in various locations throughout the western U.S. and work with clients all over. In my free time, I stay physically active and try to run the Vancouver seawall as much as I can. I am happily married to my husband, Graeme, who is an occupational therapist, working in mental health. I will rarely turn down a coffee or a glass of red wine (try me) and if my email response time drops during late March, it's probably because I am enamored by NCAA basketball. You are invited to--but definitely not required-- follow me on my incredibly mediocre Instagram account.

*It's okay. This is a very normal question.

My Vision

To grow small businesses and nonprofits by assisting in the creation of organizational systems and innovative content, so that leaders can thrive doing the good they are called to do.

My Values

authenticity

What you see is what you get. I am real, personable, and true to myself as I strive to be true to your vision for your work.

relationship

You matter to me. We may not become best friends, but I see you as more than just a project. You are a dynamic person with dreams, goals, strengths, and weaknesses and I celebrate that.

presentation

I care deeply about how things appear and are perceived. I hold my work to a high standard of polish and professionalism. I work best with clients with the same value.

story

I believe everyone-- every individual, every organization-- has a story to tell, and I want to help you tell it well.

innovation

Let's get creative. Just because things are the way they have always been, does not mean they have to be. No boxes.

outward-focused

What matters to me is that I make the world better while I take up space here. If that's what matters to you too, then I am on your team.

At the end of the day, I'm real.

And I am on a mission to cheer on everyone--every person, every organization--as we all learn to own our real, unfiltered stories.

If you are looking to work with an authentic, relational person who will give you honest feedback and seek creative solutions, then I am here for you.

Location

I live in glorious Vancouver, BC but am authorized to do business in both the U.S. and Canada. Thankfully, our proximity does not have to affect whether or not we can work together as most of the work can be done through long-distance communication.*
*In the event travel is required or requested, I am able to do so and would consider that in a customized quote.
